Join us for a free booksigning & cake this Wednesday 21 Jan 3.30-4.30pm at Poole Central Library

We are delighted to announce a new-look Teenage Library for the New Year in Poole Library. To mark the occasion we are inviting Teenagers to pop along to Poole Library this Wednesday 21st January between 3.30-4.30 for the chance to meet author Marcus Alexander. He will be on hand to talk about becoming a teenage author and his trilogy of books Keeper of the Realms. There will be a free book signing for teens as well as cake and refeshments.

We hope you can join us and see the new- look space, filled with new titles chosen by teenagers themselves.

Wow! we have over 250 joiners for #SummerReadingChallenge in 6 days!

Great to see so many children joining in the Summer Reading Challenge in Poole since our official starting date on 12th July. There’s plenty of time to sign up to the Mythical Maze and receive your free goodies. We’ve got lots of fabulous new books, events and activities all of which are FREE!
Pictured below is a Maze which you can walk round at Poole Central Library. Apparently no minotaurs were harmed in its making- phew! Why not check it out next time you are in the Dolphin Centre? You are welcome to borrow books from the Central Library and return to any of our libraries in Poole.

What's on for children front cover

We’re getting really excited in Poole Libraries about this year’s Summer Reading Challenge for children, Mythical Maze.

Starting 12th July, if you are aged four to eleven, we invite you to borrow and read 6 books from Poole libraries over the Summer holidays.

Find your way around a labyrinth, meet mythical creatures and collect stickers along the way.

Children will receive a fold-up poster, a dragon bug (exclusive to Poole libraries) and a medal and certificate on completing the challenge.

All finishers will be entered into a draw for amazing prizes, from rides in a rib, to climbing walls, to Bowlplex tickets to a Pizza Hut voucher!

Our new events brochure is out now, packed full of free events for children and families- pick one up at your local Poole Library or download a copy from

Young artists visit @Poole Libraries - fantastic designs aren't they?

Budding artists from Haymoor Junior School visited Poole Library to see the designs they made for our blinds in the Central Library at Poole.
Over 90 children drew sea-themed designs as part of the Cultual Hub project Pirate Extravaganza! a transition project involving year 5 pupils at Haymoor and Year 2 pupils at Ad Astra Infant School.
It was difficult whittling the designs down to just 9. The chosen designs are certainly striking and eye catching in our refurbished Children’s Library.

Thank you for working with us, I’ve even heard someone ask if these were purchased from a well known Swedish furniture company! Come and visit us soon!
