National Libraries Day

Saturday saw the second National Libraries Day with events, activities and new members being signed up to Libraries across the country.  Throughout the week, in addition to our regular activities,  we welcomed 30 children to Branksome Library from Heatherlands First School and we spoke to over 420 children at Talbot Combined School about the benefits of library membership.

On Thursday we had a fantastic session with SHEC, a group for the home educated children and their families.  They took part in a Library hunt, listened to the first chapter of one of our free online Ebooks by Terry Deary, sampled the refreshments from Book Bites, Hamworthy Library’s very own cafe and produced some posters for our libraries to promote National Libraries Day.  These are currently on display in our Libraries!

Parkstone Library have been busy collecting comments from readers using colourful post-it notes.  If you walk into Parkstone Library it’s hard to miss them!  It’s great to read such comments such as ‘Superb library with excellent service and attention to detail’ and ‘always a warm welcome and smile’.  Well done Parkstone Library!

A special Wriggle and Rhyme session was held at Creekmoor Library on Saturday which was held to publicise National Libraries Day and rhymetimes in Poole Libraries.

It’s great to see people supporting their libraries.  If you haven’t visited a Library for a while please pop in and visit your nearest Poole Library.  Library membership is free!
